Sewing Machine
Tape

Directions:

1. Print Stocking Pattern above. Cut out pattern pieces and tape together according to instructions.

2. Trace pattern twice onto felt intended for Base and twice onto felt intended for Lining. Cut out. This example uses Ecru wool felt for the Base and Honeydew wool felt for the Lining.

3. Trace and cut out stocking Loop from felt for Base.

4. Embellish stocking front. Create your own design or use our Nutcracker Stocking Pattern.

5. Pin two Base pieces together with right sides facing out. Sew around perimeter with a 3/8" seam.

This step is easiest to complete with a sewing machine, but can be done by hand if no machine is available.

6. Pin two Lining pieces together. Sew around perimeter with 1/2" seam.

7. Use pinking shears to trim around the outer edge of Lining. Be careful not to cut into the stitches!

8. Turn Lining inside out and insert into Base. Adjust Lining until it sits smoothly within the Base and the tops of each stocking are flush. Pin along top of stocking.

9. Fold over Stocking Loop and glue cut ends together.

10. Add a small amount of glue to bottom of Loop at front and back and insert 1" into top of stocking, between Base and Lining, on same side as heel.

11. Using a 3/8" seam allowance, stitch across top front of stocking. Begin and end at side seams. Knot off each end.

Repeat for top of back, making sure to sew over and secure Loop.

12. As an optional step, cut the Holly and Berry pieces from coordinating felt.  Embroider an initial or use our Stitchable Alphabet Die to personalize. Attach to stocking beneath Loop with glue or a few hand stitches.

Your stocking is ready to be stuffed!
