Directions:

This example will demonstrate how to make an eight stem mistletoe, but the same technique can be used to make one larger or smaller in size.

1. Cut eight mistletoe leaves in each color and separate into piles. Use three shades of green for leaves. This example uses Moss, Meadow and Sage.

2. Set aside eight 6-8" 18-gauge wire stems. Glue three leaves to each stem in any order, spacing each leaf 1” apart and alternating colors and leaf style so each stem is different.

Set leaves aside.

3. Use wire cutters to cut four 3" sections from 22-gauge paddle wire. Use an awl or sharp scissors to carefully make a small hole in a white felt pom. Fill hole with glue and insert an end of one wire section. Let dry. Repeat until all eight white poms are glued to both ends of the four small wire sections.

4. Choose four random leaf stems. Each berry wire will be attached to the leaf stems in the location of the red circles - two between bottom and middle leaf, one berry wire at the top, and one between the top and middle leaf. Stems are labeled to help with placement in Step 6.

5. To attach a berry wire, hold berry and leaf stems together with thumb and index fingers. Wrap berry wire as tightly as possible around the stem. Pinch wire with needle nose pliers to secure.

6. Once all four berry stems are attached, arrange stems in two configurations shown below for front and back side of the mistletoe.

7. Carefully pinch together stems that make up front of the mistletoe. Then, add back three wires, poms facing out. Holding stems in position, wrap several layers of floral tape around tightly to secure them. Bend and style the stems outward after taping.

8. Clip stems to desired length.

9. Wrap twine or ribbon around the floral tape. Glue or tie a small loop and bow onto the stems.

Hang your mistletoe where it can’t be missed. You can even use it to decorate the table or as a special touch on a wrapped gift. Enjoy your mistletoe decoration each holiday season for years to come!
