BEIGE HEART

Supplies:
Felt in Oyster, Rose Quartz, Cherry Red, Garnet, Begonia and Tellina
DMC floss in 351, 760, 816, 3363, 3706, 3852 and 3865

1. Use Heart Ornament die and a cutting machine to cut the following from felt:

Stitchable Base - Cut 2 from Oyster
Large Heart - Cut 1 from Cherry Red
Medium Heart - Cut 1 from Garnet
Small Heart - Cut 1 from Rose Quartz
Large Flower - Cut 2 from Begonia
Small Flower - Cut 2 from Tellina
Flower Center - Cut 2 from Butterscotch

2. Stack Large and Medium Hearts and position at bottom point of Stitchable Base. Stitch in place with three strands of DMC 3865 and a running stitch.

All stitching will use three strands of embroidery floss unless otherwise noted.

3. Add five French knots onto the Large Heart around each curve of the Medium Heart using DMC 760. Wrap center knots two times and outer knots once.

4. Place Small Heart just above Large Heart and stitch in place with DMC 817 and two lazy daisy stitches.

5. Stack one Large and Small Flower. Position at curved end of Stitchable Base. Secure with straight stitches that begin at petal intersections and extend toward center of flower. Use DMC 3706.

6. Use a French knot (wrapped once) with DMC 3852 to add Flower Center to middle of Small Flower.

7. Use DMC 3363 and back stitches to make a stem between bottom of Large Flower and Large Heart. Add leaves with long lazy daisy stitches. You may find it useful to draw guidelines with a Frixion pen prior to stitching. Markings can be removed later with a hair dryer or iron.

8. Repeat Steps 5-7 for other side of Stitchable Base. The embellished heart should look like this:

9. Place two Stitchable Bases (embellished side facing out) together. Stitch together using DMC 351. To hide the beginning knot, start under the edge of the stacked hearts on front and then come up through a hole in the top layer.

Whip stitch around perimeter.

10. If you are adding a string for hanging the ornament, hold it in place and stitch through it while whip stitching perimeter.

11. Prior to stitching ornament closed, stuff using Polyfil or felt scraps. Continue stitching closed.

12. To finish stitching, enter the final hole on back side and come back up a few stitches down to knot thread. Tuck the knotted end back into ornament.
