Directions:

1. Print Collar Pattern above onto cardstock and cut out. Connect pattern as instructed and trace one full collar onto Ecru felt. Cut out. There is just enough room to fit the front and back of the collar onto one 12 x 18" felt sheet. Pattern can be sized up or down to fit all neck sizes.

2. Print Collar Pattern again onto iron-on adhesive. Cut out leaving a small border around the perimeter and cutting exactly along dashed lines. Connect pattern as instructed and iron (medium heat, no steam) onto remaining half of Ecru felt.

3. After pattern is secured and cool, cut along solid lines and remove paper.

4. Cut two 24" lengths of silk ribbon. Iron, if necessary.

5. Place two Collar pieces together with adhesive layer sandwiched between. Lift front corners and insert ends of each ribbon length between felt layers.

6. Iron collar until both sides and ribbon ends are held in place by adhesive.

7. Use one strand of Ecru thread to stitch around entire perimeter of collar. Start with a whip stitch at the front corner and through the ribbon. Once past the ribbon, finish remaining length of collar with a blanket stitch.

8. Cut out Leaves in a variety of felt colors. Cutting the leaves can be achieved using the SVG + PDF files in the supply list or with our Oak Leaves Deep Etch Die and a cutting machine.

Lay out the leaves on the collar as you cut to see how many leaves suit your taste. For this example, I cut at least one large, medium and small leaf from each color.

9. Cut four additional small Leaves from the Bronze metallic felt. These will be glued back to back at the bottom of the ribbon. In order for the shapes to match, cut two with pattern facing up and two with pattern facing down. If you are using the die, cut two with die facing shiny side of felt and two with die facing fuzzy side of felt.

10. Once leaves are arranged, remove top layer of leaves and set aside. I took a picture first to remember how they were arranged! Glue bottom layer of leaves to top side of collar.

11. To add foil details, apply Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive to remaining unattached leaves. You can foil as much or as little as you desire.

Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive has a small tip that is great for detail work. It only takes a small amount of pressure for glue to come out. I suggest practicing on a piece of paper or scrap fabric before adding glue to felt.

12. Adhesive will appear cloudy when applied. Allow to dry until completely clear (about 2 hours) before adding foil. Dry adhesive will remain slightly tacky.

13. Once foil adhesive is dry, place coordinating foil, color side facing up, on top of adhesive design. To transfer, rub foil with finger using medium to firm pressure. Slowly peel foil sheet away from felt. Repeat, if necessary, for full coverage.

14. After embellishing, glue remaining leaves onto collar. Allow to dry.

15. Once dry, try on collar and tie ribbon into a bow. Trim ribbons to desired length. Sandwich ribbon ends between metallic leaves and glue together. Allow to dry.

Your collar is complete and ready to step out.

Remember, you're never fully dressed without a fall foliage collar! Pretty sure that's how the saying goes...
